Hi, I'm Rachel and I enjoy being awesome. I'm originally from Texas, but have been living in Scotland on and off since February 2006 (permanently since February 2008). What I have I learned from my moving-abroad experience, you ask? Well I can tell you one thing: After living in the city for (respectively) a year and a half, I have come to realise that I will never be a 'city person'. I am a 'country person' who lives in the city. I tried to fight it for a while, but it's too exhausting. It doesn't matter how fancy your suit is or how hard you've worked to lose your southern drawl. You've still got hay in your hair, you still talk slower than everyone else around you, and you still spent your youth smoking pot in a van down by the river. There's no point in trying to hide the fact that you're a bumpkin.
